Mass Ave NEXT Vision Plan

The Mass Ave NEXT Plan, a Certified Strategic Plan for a 21st Century Downtown Urban Village, will be kicking off in January 2026. 

This visionary planning initiative is designed to unify the community around a shared future for the district. The Mass Ave NEXT plan will serve as an overlay to existing Historic Preservation and Neighborhood Plans, enhancing—not replacing—their foundational work.

It will provide a framework for community-based initiatives that foster cultural vibrancy, economic empowerment, livability, and long-term sustainability, ensuring Mass Ave remains a dynamic, inclusive, and livable urban district.

A key component of this overlay is the intentional integration of neighborhood ideas into the interface between neighborhood plans and Mass Ave. This collaborative approach will facilitate and empower a stronger, more unified voice with the City, ensuring that local perspectives and priorities are reflected in future development and policy decisions.

By aligning with existing neighborhood visions and preservation efforts, MACAD aims to build a cohesive strategy that honors the district’s heritage while embracing innovation and inclusivity.
